The Long March – Halifax Easter Sunday/Monday 20th/21st April 2014
I will be undertaking the 26.2 miles night walk around Halifax with my eldest daughter. Between us we should raise about £250 for Christian Aid. The 100 or so walkers will raise thousands of pounds for the same worthy cause. I will be tweeting our progress through the night using my account @PreacherOnNote. Rishworth Moor’s Expanse – a Journey that went wrong…………
The children and other half being out for the day, I thought I’d better do some practice for the Halifax Long March (more of this later). I debated which strategy to take. 1) a shortish moorland walk or 2) a longer road-based walk. The first had the advantage of being a good way to stretch myself a little before the 26.2 miles I would have to do at the end of the week. The second would be easier terrain but perhaps not as interesting. I opted for the first and got out my ’50 walks in West Yorkshire’ to see if I could find another one to ‘tick off’. I opted for a wander over Rishworth Moor from Ripponden, a walk of 6 miles according to the book. Having also got a box of cards of 30 of the walks I picked up the relevant card and made my way to…

I have a plan – which I will pray about – then think about some more………… I should have been a circus performer with all the juggling I’ve been required to do but God knows what he has in store and I just need to hand it over to him and listen!

As with most people, I have experienced many highs and lows. Aged 15, I first felt God was nudging me towards ordained ministry. I explored this over the next 7 years, culminating in a year working for the Church. This showed me that I wasn’t ready yet for what God had planned for me. I needed more experience of life. 26 years later, after much nudging and a whole load more experience, I have returned to the ‘question’ that seems to have dominated my life and have resolved to test whether it is indeed God doing the nudging! My journey started within the Anglican Church and this has played a…
